Temporary visiting changes

23 July 2020

Good evening residents and families,

The Victorian Government has just announced significant changes to visitor restrictions in residential aged care homes. Mercy Health is urgently reviewing these changes and what they mean for our Victorian aged care residents and their loved ones.

Over the next four days, we are temporarily closing our Victorian homes to visitors while we prepare for these changes. People who already have a Mercy Health co-carer agreement in place can continue to visit. We will not be processing new co-carer agreements during this period.

We will introduce the new visitor restrictions on Tuesday, 28 July 2020.

We apologise for the short notice and for any upset this may cause. We have acted immediately in response to this government decision, which was made because of the ongoing high risk of coronavirus transmission in Victoria.

We encourage residents and families to stay in touch via phone or video calls, wherever we can provide these. Our staff will be increasing their efforts to keep residents and loved ones connected over the next four days.

We will write to you again on Monday with more details about the changes and how they apply to our homes.

Thank you for your patience and understanding at a very difficult and rapidly changing time.

Yours sincerely,

Felix Pintado
