An update from our home
Today we awoke to the first day of daylight savings, with more natural light in the evenings to accompany the warmer months ahead.
Resident wellbeing
On this quiet Sunday, I am happy to report that our residents are mostly well. As we find ourselves maintaining a steady pattern at our home, some of our updates, like today, will be brief.
Enhanced surveillance
I hope that yesterday’s proposed timeline for moving to enhanced surveillance eased some of your concerns about the length of time it is taking to step down from our current outbreak response. We still have some time to go, but it is perhaps comforting to have those dates in mind. I do want to remind you that the final decision sits with the Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Unit (PHU) and the dates are not set in stone. That said, it is nice to think that we are getting closer to moving out of the current outbreak response stage.
Some families have asked what enhanced surveillance will mean for our residents. In other homes, enhanced surveillance has enabled residents to move about the home. We are all looking forward to a bit more movement, however please be aware that other infection control measures will likely stay in place such as restrictions on visitors and the use of personal protective equipment. The PHU will ultimately decide what enhanced surveillance will look like for our home and residents. We will share more information with you once we are closer to that stage.
Communication with residents and families
We are continuing regular calls to primary contacts. We are also continuing these daily written updates for primary contacts and residents, to keep you informed about what is happening at our home. Please share this information with other family members, so they are also kept informed.
If you require specific information about your loved one, please call the Clinical Care Coordinator. For general enquiries, please call between 10am–2pm.
