Information for Shepparton residents and families

16 October 2020

Dear Mercy Place Shepparton residents and families,

Mercy Health has accepted an offer to have our staff tested for coronavirus as a precautionary measure. This is part of a Commonwealth and State Government effort to test aged care workers who are asymptomatic (do not have symptoms).

Melbourne Pathology will be visiting our home tomorrow, Saturday 17 October, to test all staff.

Please note that this does not mean we have coronavirus in our home. Our staff move around in the broader community, and as a result of the small number of coronavirus cases detected in Shepparton earlier this week we believe this is a sensible precaution to take.

We do not expect that any staff will test positive to coronavirus. Please be assured that if that does occur, we have processes in place to respond immediately and thoroughly. If we are notified of a positive case in our home through this testing process or otherwise, we will inform residents and their primary contacts straight away.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our families to remain vigilant about hygiene and physical distancing. Please be alert to any symptoms, however mild, and get tested if you are unwell. The health and wellbeing of our residents and staff depends on everyone in the broader community doing the right thing. Thank you for taking care of yourself and others.

Yours sincerely

Fatehbir Kumahr
Acting Service Manager
Mercy Place Shepparton
